As far as we’re concerned Will Ferrell’s legacy will be his contributions to our everyday vernacular. The guy has spent his career introducing line after line for dudes like us to recycle when the opportune time presents itself.

So with Step Brothers opening this week — and growing on us despite our current reservations with regards to Will’s overexposure — we decided to log our all-time favorite Will Ferrell lines. We’re pretty sure writers had nothing to do with these, the majority being ad-libbed.

The Ron Burgundy Lines

We’re certain Will made Anchorman solely to give a generation of young men a lifetime’s supply of reusable lines…

“I’m kind of a big deal. People know me.” – A little played in 2008, but there’s no denying the pure awesomeness. Best used on chicks in 2004, before they realized it was from a movie.

“A whale’s vagina.” - Classic response for when anyone asks what a foreign word or geographic name means.

“I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch.” – Best used after your first sip of scotch, if you rarely drink scotch.

“Agree to disagree.” (in Burgundy voice) – Last resort comment when losing an argument with your girlfriend.

“I’m not even mad; that’s amazing.” - For whenever a friend knocks over your beer while doing something cool.

“I’m gonna punch you in the ovary.” - Team Cool & Tough’s go to line for when things get tense.

The Frank the Tank Lines

Every Frank line is repeatable, these are our favorites…

The “Pretty nice little Saturday” excuse, “You know what, I’ll do one,” AND “Once it hits your lips, it’s so good!” - THREE tremendously repeatable classics all from one scene. The first is a great way to acknowledge you’re being a pussy for not going out, the second comes in handy when you want to ease into changing your mind on something, and the third should be every guy’s reacton to his first beer after work.

“Honey, you think KFC is still open?” – The perfect opening line for when your girlfriend picks you and your drunk buddies up from a bar.

“We’ll have some dinner and pop in the Sisqo CD…” – What you tell your friends when they ask you what you said to some chick that made her go away.

“Maybe it’s a thong. Maybe it’s something really cool that I don’t even know about.” – Recommended for explaining your curiosity in a weird topic.

The Ricky Bobby Lines

Talladega Nights doesn’t have as many, but these lines are still kind of awesome…

“I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence.” - It only had a six month shelf life, but it was kick ass while it lasted.

“The room’s startin to spin…cause of all the gayness.” - Classic third party reaction to engagement ring conversation between two of your friends.

“It’s a movie. It won the Academy Award.” – The only acceptable response to anyone every mentioning Highlander. Followed by you praying they ask, “For what?” so you can tell them, “Best movie ever made.”

“That just happened!” – Most effective in association with mediocre accomplishments.

The SNL Lines

There’s TONS of material from Will’s SNL days. These are Team Cool & Tough’s favorites…

“I got my own snow cone right here.” - From the Get off the Shed follow up, Get on the Bag. Ideal for anytime you crack open a beer in the AM. 1:55 in:

“If you were a hot dog, would you eat yourself?” - From the single best Harry Caray Weekend Update appearance. Best used on annoying chicks when your buddies are around.

“You’re a f–king dog.” - From the most underrated of all the SNL mock commercials. Awesome for anytime you’re around a canine (must include the ear lift). 1:40 in:

“I drive a Dodge Stratus!” - Random sketches like “Dodge Stratus” stopped working for SNL after Ferrell left, but there’s no denying the hilarity in “I drive a Dodge Stratus!”. You can really only use the line in a retro manner now, but for the two months after it aired it was comedy gold.

The Miscellaneous Lines

A mixed bag of awesomeness…

“So hot right now.” – From Zoolander, a cult classic for anyone who was in college and owned a bong when it came out on DVD. Probably the most versatile of all Ferrell lines.

“I almost numchucked you, you don’t even realize!” – From Wedding Crashers. Best used at random on your girlfriend in front of your buddies.

“This is gonna get kinda weird…Two dragons.” - From Starsky & Hutch. One of the better ways to precede things getting weird. Our boy JK’s personal favorite.
